Why
we need your support.
Lizzie's Barn is not only a rescue but is also a sanctuary. Dogs that can be rehomed
go to their new owners as soon as they can be found but for a few that isn't possible.
That may be due to a chronic medical condition that will require constant care
or due to behavioural problems possibly caused by previous ill-treatment. Whatever
the reason, if they cannot be rehomed they will stay at Lizzie's Barn to be taken
care of for the rest of their lives.
New veterinary treatments can sometimes transform the lives of unwell dogs but
some treatments are very expensive and may be required regularly throughout their
lives. We think our dogs deserve it.
Megan, left, arrived with her newly-born pups and though her pups have
been rehomed, Megan's difficult early life will mean she is never suitable for
rehoming. She has been at Lizzie's Barn for six years. |
Help us by sponsoring a Lizzie's Barn dog.

Granny Sophie
arrived at Lizzie's Barn after her owner died. At 15 she was too old to be rehomed
but still had a little time left to enjoy life.
Apart from a little stiffness which was helped with dietary supplements she remained
fit and quickly became the resident Matriarch. Sadly Sophie recently died but
enjoyed life to the end.
Sophie was one of our dogs
that due to old age or other reasons could not be re-homed but still deserve to
live out their days in peace. If you would like to support us in caring for dogs
like Sophie and others like her please email us for details. |

Barney came to Lizzie's Barn paralysed after massive prolonged fits. He
now walks andruns very well. His action is a bit odd, but it works. He will always
need medication for his epilepsy which costs just under £1 a day, so is
not too bad. He loves company, and is inclined to bark when alone. Good with other
dogs, house trained and a generally nice dog. We know it will be tough finding
someone to give Barney a permanent home but perhap if you can't adopt him youself
might consider sending a donation to his costs or maybe even a present just for
him. |
